| The Mitchell Collegiate Institute charged fees and tuition. The first grade tuition for a month was $1, and moved up by a quarter until a student was charged $2.75 by the 11th grade. (The 11th grade was as far as you could go in High School at the time.) If you needed to stay at the school, the dormitory cost $7 to $8 each month. School would start September 1st and end April 12th.
The Mitchell Collegiate Institute became the Bakersville High School, then Bowman High, and is now Bowman Middle School.
